Bathroom Art

Jill Katz – Artist statement

San Francisco is more than just a city to me—it’s a living, breathing canvas, a place where history and modernity collide in the most unexpected ways. I am endlessly inspired by its fog-drenched streets, vibrant neighborhoods, and the hidden stories tucked away in places most people overlook.

Bathrooms, in particular, have always fascinated me. They are intimate, transient spaces—sometimes luxurious, sometimes gritty, but always deeply human. They serve as quiet sanctuaries, chaotic reflections, or even unintentional art installations. Through my photography, I explore the textures, colors, and emotions found in these spaces, capturing fleeting moments that might otherwise go unnoticed.

In each photograph, I aim to celebrate the character of San Francisco while also challenging perceptions of beauty, privacy, and urban life. Whether it’s the ornate tiles of a historic hotel restroom or the raw graffiti of a dive bar stall, my work seeks to uncover the hidden art in the everyday.

Bathroom

At Flushed with Style, we believe even a loo deserves a little love. Our photography captures bathrooms in all their quirky, tiled glory — minimalist lines, playful details, and that perfect splash of personality.

We keep it clean (visually, anyway) with a focus on natural light, bold shapes, and thoughtful negative space. Whether it’s a pink pedestal sink or a perfectly awkward towel hook, we frame each shot to let the bathroom do the talking.

Graffiti

Graffiti doesn’t whisper — it shouts, drips, and dazzles. At You Bathrooms (yeah, we shoot walls too), we capture street art in all its raw, beautiful chaos. Our photography strips it down to what matters: color, form, texture, and attitude.

We chase the bold lines, the peeling paint, the perfect shadow on a back alley wall — always with a minimalist lens and an eye for the weirdly wonderful. Whether it’s a massive mural or a tiny tag, we frame it like it belongs in a gallery. (Because it does.)

San Francisco

San Francisco isn’t just a city — it’s a mood. A slightly-offbeat, often foggy, always photogenic mood. We photograph SF the way it actually feels: windblown, colorful, quietly chaotic, and full of weird little corners you didn’t know you loved.

From pastel Victorians to cable car cables and graffiti’d staircases that lead nowhere in particular, we keep it minimal but meaningful. No tourist clichés (unless they’re ironically cool). Just thoughtful frames with soul, shadow, and the occasional pigeon.
